Garage sales and yard sales often have books in them! So in the summer, when your local paper is full of listings for garage sales, check to see if any of them have books, and then go load up! Or just pop into garage sales as you see them. You never know what you might find. And by buying books at a garage sale, you are supporting a local family, which is a great added bonus!
Goodwill Industries is a great organization that helps people in need. Many Goodwill stores carry clothes, furniture, housewares, music, and yes, cheap books. So head to your local Goodwill store and pick up some books. (Maybe donate something while you're there too!)
Cheap books are easy to find online. Try Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, Better World Books, Barnes and Noble, or Borders. You can also buy books through major stores like Target and Best Buy through their websites as well.
