Did you know the Post Office will put a special Valentine postmark on your Valentine's Day cards for you? Address and stamp your card(s) as usual, then put it inside another larger envelope with the proper postage and send it to one of the places in the list. Address it to Postmaster, Valentine Remailing, with the city of your choice. The US Postal Service recommends you allow at least an extra week for delivery, so your card will get to the postmarking city and back to your sweetie in time for Valentine's Day. There's a Valentine TX (79854), Valentine NE (69201), and a Valentines VA (23887). Local school children create the designs used in Valentine, Texas, which has been offering special postmarks since 1983. In Valentine Nebraska, the postmaster estimates they handle about 50,000 pieces of Valentine's Day mail each year from as far away as Australia. The Valentines, Virginia, Post Office actually got its name from the Valentine Family Store, where the Post Office was located until 1924.
The Romance AR (72136) Post Office isn't just for special postmarks, it's also the site of weddings. In 2008, there were two Valentine's Day weddings: one in the PO Box section and one by the flagpole in front of the Post Office.
If you want to mark your Valentine's Day greeting with love, you have lots of options. There are the cheerful Lovejoy GA (30250) and Lovejoy IL (62059).
