Nowadays we are made to feel guilty if our children watch any TV at all. But a long Midwest winter is going to depend on the TV for some entertainment in my home. The following are my favorite educational shows for my toddler and preschool age children.
Superwhy is great for children of Preschool level. It teaches letters and spelling as well as how to sound out letters. Superwhy makes reading fun and adventurous.
My 2 girls have always loved Mickey Mouse. At a toddler age they can learn a lot from the cartoon! From shapes to number and letters to problem solving there is constant learning on this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!
Veggie Tales is a Christian basic program. It teaches bible stories in a fun new way. The main thing I love about Veggie Tales is that it teaches kids common decency. There is a lot to be learned about how to treat others and do what is right. Veggie Tales should be watched by the parents as well!!
Word Girl is for the older child. But is great for toddlers and preschool as well. It can help expand their vocabulary. My daughter now knows that 'aggravated' means mad! Of course, she may have figured that one out on her own ;)
While the repetitiveness of Dora is enough to drive any adult viewer into a psychotic rampage, it is a great show for teaching children how to follow direction. I think it's a fair trade-off!
While Cartoons are never meant to replace a parents guidance and teaching, they are a better source of entertainment than some video games or movies. I am thankful there is a nice selection of positive cartoons available for my children.
Interesting list, thanks!
Great list on educational cartoons. H5!
