Introduction:Here is my review on staying at the La Renaissance in Atlantic City. There are many pros and cons of staying here. It would definitely be worth your while to read this review before booking a room.
When we first got to the hotel La Renaissance in Atlantic City, we were extremely confused on where to park. We saw a parking lot that was gated closed, and so there seemed to be nowhere to park. We ended up driving up and down a few streets trying to find out where to park. Eventually, I called them and asked.
The employee at the front desk said to just park outside on the street, and once we checked in, they would give us a swipe card for the parking garage.
We felt really weird at first, but I guess it is good that they have such a secured indoor parking garage here at La Renaissance. The lot seems very small, but there are three floors, and the cars all seem to fit.
It is really cool that to get to the second and third levels of this garage you need to use the car elevator. I really thought this was a con of staying here, but maybe it really is a pro. Many people never have the chance to use car elevators. It is really quite different.
When we tried to enter the La Renaissance, the door was locked. That was pretty unusual to us and a bit shocking, I guess. The front desk clerk pushed a button to let us in. They must need a lot of security here or something. I was really feeling scared by the time we made it to our room. Now though, I am feeling much better about this security. This would be another con which I now am considering a pro. After all, there is a lot of gambling going on in Atlantic City. You can never be too safe.
One of the cons of staying at the La Renaissance is the fact that the "luxury suite" is very small. You can hardly even walk around the kitchen table or move around in the bathroom. The whole "spacious suite" is not what I am used to at all. I found it quite odd that there was a phone in the bathroom.
The hotel rooms at the La Renaissance have a small refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dinnerware, and utensils. There is no oven, though. Maybe we just ended up getting a small room. We got the one bedroom. There is a balcony, which is always nice, and a jacuzzi in the tiny bathroom. The TV in the bedroom is really small.
Do not expect to have any sort of complimentary breakfast at the La Renaissance at 190 S Kentucky Ave. in Atlantic City, NJ. They do offer free coffee and tea, though, in their lobby.
There is a very small pool and a hot tub up on the top floor. This is also where you will find the game room, TV room, exercise room, and the sundeck. There are only two video games. There is a pool table, and there are only four exercise machines. The treadmill does not work, but maybe you just need to ask for the key to put in it.
La Renaissance offers free movies, but they charge $10 a night to rent their DVD player. This is a real con as far as pros and cons go. I would advise anyone who might want to watch any free movies to bring along your own DVD player.
La Renaissance in Atlantic City is located right on the boardwalk, so that is a pro. It is great to not have to drive around to be able to go and do anything. Everything is right here. You can walk right out of the hotel and onto the boardwalk. The beach is right here, too. You cannot be any closer to the beach.
There are all sorts of shops and things to do on the boardwalk along with many casinos and great places to eat. You can walk to Applebee's, McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Ruby Tuesdays, The Melting Pot, Texas Longhorn, and many other restaurants.
There is a Rite Aid and a CVS really close and many grocery shops. You cannot find a more ideal location. The longer that I am staying here, the more that I am enjoying my experience.
La Renaissance only offers free wifi in the lobby. It is quite comfortable there. I am used to getting that right in the comfort of my own room, though. There is a nice sized TV in the lobby, and a restroom with a sign on it stating that there are no public restrooms. I don't see how any strangers would be coming in to use the restroom, because the door is locked.
The lobby has vending machines which is a pro. La Renaissance also has laundry facilities, but it costs $1.75 to use either the washer or the dryer. Many other hotels offer this for free.
I am still staying at La Renaissance. I might add more to this article at any time. I hope that this information on La Renaissance will help anyone to decide if this would be a place for them to consider staying while in Atlantic City or not. Overall, I would give La Renaissance a good review. It was just a little weird at first.
