Better World Books is an online bookstore that sells both new and used books. I have no reason to endorse them (as in, they're not paying me) except that I really believe in what they're doing. And I don't just mean selling books. Need to know more? Then read on, because here are the top five things you should know about Better World Books.
The selection of books at Better World Books is huge and their prices are some of the lowest online. I looked up three books that I already own recently and the prices were amazing! "The Hippie Handbook" was only $5.48, "The Bohemian Manifesto" was $4.48, and "Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent," was a shocking $3.98! Wow!
A portion of all the money that comes into Better World Books gets donated to literacy projects and programs all over the world. With a large number of people worldwide who can't read, their cause and their giving is so important, and I for one, appreciate it very much.
Better World Books has diverted over 26,000 tons of books from landfills. Not only that, but every order that they ship is shipped "carbon neutral," with offsets from carbonfund.org. That's awesome!
Better World Books donates books to organizations and programs in the United States and worldwide, including to Books for Africa, Room to Read, Worldfund, The National Center for Family Literacy, and Invisible Children.
The current prices for shipping (November 20th, 2010) are as follows: Shipping is free in the United States and $3.97 worldwide. I would say that these are affordable shipping prices.
Like I said, I am not getting paid or anything for promoting this business, I just really believe that they have a good thing going on and I think it would be cool if people checked them out.
