Introduction:Reduce, reuse, & recycle & get inventive! Whether you just need to cut down on holiday costs or want to go a little more "green" when gift giving this year, this list can help you. Here are the top five ways to wrap presents without wrapping paper.
If you sew or know someone who does, use the sewing scraps to wrap presents! Simply wrap your present up in the cloth then use some yarn to tie it up (with a bow) so it stays wrapped & looks cool too. When the gifts are all opened, you can save the cloth & yarn for future gift giving.
Let's go a little old school for a second & wrap presents so that they almost look like an old newspaper bundle! Simple wrap a few small (stackable) gifts in newspaper (preferrably one you've already read). Use tape as needed. Once you have the gifts wrapped, stack them, then tie them together with some twine. It's a creative, yet classic, way to wrap presents without wrapping paper.
Gift bags are great for wrapping presents without wrapping paper because they are reusable (as is tissue paper, if you're careful.) But if you still don't want to buy gift bags, make your own! Simply take a blank, brown paper sack, decorate it, put the gift inside, & staple shut! It's that easy. Doing that, you can have lots of easy to make homemade gift bags in minutes.
Another great way to wrap presents without wrapping paper is to actually wrap presents in other presents! Great things to use for this include washcloths, hand towels, blankets, bandanas, etc. If you need something to hold it all together, you can always use clothes pins, safety pins, yarn, ribbon, etc.
Fill a great basket with packing peanuts, shredded paper, feathers, flower petals, or whatever, then put gifts that kind of go together in the basket. To be extra fancy, you can tie a ribbon around the basket handle, or wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap to hold it all in.
Other great ways to wrap presents without wrapping paper include: using aluminum foil, covering the gift with plastic wrap & then hiding the present wrapped within with tons of stickers, or putting the gift in a box & "wrapping it" with colored duct tape.
