The Dapple-Gray Bed & Breakfast is located in Michigan's Keweenaw
Peninsula. It is between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. The area is quiet. The house is up on a hill.
The owners of the Dapple-Gray Bed & Breakfast are very nice and pleasant. Their names are Ole and Ruth Van Goor. They go out of their way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. The make an awesome breakfast in the mornings complete with coffee, assorted juices, milk, eggs, sausage, homemade breads, toast, and fruit.
The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The house is located up on a hill and overlooks Lake Superior. It is surrounded by beautiful trees on a beautiful lot. You can stand out on the deck and look at Lake Superior or walk around the deck and look at the beautiful surroundings and back yard as a squirrel climbs up the feeder and eats from the feeder. Very pretty area.
The Dapple-Gray Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful log home inside and out. It is quiet and very large. There are four rooms that they rent out. They all decorated differently. The four bedrooms include the Lincoln Bedroom which includes furniture combines with original Lincoln engravings, lithographs, and souvenirs which has a double bed and a full bathroom included in it. The second bedroom is the Americana Room which includes an Empire sleigh double bed, original World War I posters and a Zenith radio, all done up in red, white, and blue. The Americana Room also includes a full bathroom in the room. The third bedroom is the North Woods Room. This bedroom also includes a full bathroom and is decorated with a log four poster queen size bed. It is decorated with art work and creatures from the North Woods. The fourth bedroom is called the Seashore Room and is decorated with things found in the sea. This room is a Victorian decorated room and has a full bathroom and two double size beds included.
This house is very large and has a fireplace and beautiful antiques throughout the whole house. There is a library upstairs for you to read from. Old dolls around the entire house. Large kitchen which the owners prepare breakfast for you in the mornings. A beautiful relaxing fireplace in the living room to sit and read a book or enjoy your laptop by. The ceilings are very high. The second floor has a beautiful open hallway that you can look down over the railing to the main floor and see all of the antiques and other things that are used to decorate the house with.
There is an antique shop located in the house as well where you can purchase antiques from if you choose.
There is a sauna located outside if you choose to use the sauna.
The Dapple-Gray Bed & Breakfast is very clean. I didn't find any dust or cobwebs anywhere in the house even with the high ceilings throughout the whole house. The floors, bedrooms, kitchen, entry way, living room, bathroom, and everything else in the house is clean and everything is in its perfect space. The bedding is clean and even ironed for you.
We stayed at the Dapple - Gray Bed & Breakfast in Michigan and we were so impressed by everything there. The owners, Ole and Ruth, were exceptional people. There were both very friendly and were eager to explain anything you wanted to know about all the antiques surrounding the house. There were a total of 4 couples that stayed there and none of us had any complaints what so ever.

Yet another reason to visit Michigan. Gotta get up there one day.
I spent my childhood summers in Michigan with my Aunt and Uncle, first cousins. It is a beautiful state. A friend bought a 'shack' in Union Pier for a grand. This was 1967 and I could envision these places becoming something beautiful and viable. The did. The view of the Lake up there is so beautiful! H5
I like staying at B&Bs as they really feel unique compared to a motel.
