Introduction:Gifts for book lovers are pretty straight forward. The list here ranges from just a few dollars to hundreds of dollars, so there's something for every bibliophile in your life.
This allows a book lover to choose from millions of titles, then carry around thousands of books in one lightweight device. A Kindle, Nook, or whatever, can download books in seconds. A book lovers dream gift, an ereader costs under $200, and is coming down in price all the time.
A giftcard to a favorite book store strikes joy in the heart of your favorite bibliophile. The fact that this must be spent on books is delightful.
Be careful with this one. Make sure your intended recipient hasn't read it yet. Carefully listen to their conversations about books in order to make a good choice. You might pre-order an awaited book in a series, so your reader is one of the first to get the next installment in a favorite series. If you're not sure, see gifts for book lovers #2.
Get a snazzy little clip on book light for your favorite reader. Kids like tiny flashlights, too. make sure it is of good quality. There are some ultra-cheapy types of booklights that will break pretty fast.
Find a classy bookmark that reflects the personality of your book lover. Bookplates are a fine gift for a reader who likes to loan out volumes to friends.
Whether you choose an ereader or a little book, or even a sweet bookmark, your book lover will be appreciative of your gift.

I love the idea of giving a book with a couple of bookish accessories like a bookmark and book light. I never thought to do that, and it certainly jazzes up the package a bit. You're right though, you do have to be careful about giving books. I typically give a gift card unless I know the person's taste very well! My sister's birthday is coming up soon, and I think I know what she likes to read well enough to pick out something for her. I'm going to get a recently favorite novel of mine, 'Israela' by Batya Casper (http://www.israelathebook.com). It's a novel about a family of sisters set in Israel, and it's absolutely fascinating. However much I love it, I don't know that I'd risk giving to anyone other than my sister for fear that it's not their taste or they've already read it!
This just gave me a great birthday idea for someone, thanks!
Love all of these, but my favorite is a gift card...I received $100 in gift cards for books this year. Can't wait to spend 'em!
I'm greedy, and want all of these.
I would accept any and all of these book gifts any time any one wants to give me one. Great list!
As unimaginative as it is, I prefer the gift card since it allows me to purchase whatever I like. Our kids love going to Borders and Barns and Noble.
Great list of 5 for book lovers.
Considerate suggestions for gifts for the book lover. I really resonate with sweet bookmarks!
