Ways to Heal Yourself

Introduction:Truth be told, going to the doctor's office for what may be a minor ailment leads to a more serious disorder. Not immediately but somewhere down the road the side effects of that previous prescription (or prescriptions) will rear its ugly head. The tragic part is that this acquired affliction grows from the inside and will manifest itself later in life, and usually at the worst of times. The body was designed to heal itself and it simply cannot do so with manufactured drugs flowing through your veins. The author is no physician but only utilizing common sense and over four decades of healthy living, on this earth.

    Meditation and Music

    Start the day with at least 5 minutes of meditation. Sit in a comfortable chair, close your eyes, clear your mind of any thoughts, and just breathe. Begin with 5 minutes per day and work your way up to 20-30 minutes every single day.

    Stop for a second while you're listening to your favorite music and notice how it tends to pick up your mood. It's as if you begin to flow with the beat and the music becomes a part of you. Negative, limiting, and self-defeating thoughts no longer occupy your mind. Time is no longer a factor. Whatever concern you had before your workout, you realize you never thought about it while you were "in the zone."

    Water

    Since the body is over 70% water it's a no brainer that you need it, lots of it, to sustain your life. Drink at least 8 bottles of water daily. The way to easily accomplish this is to stock up on bottled water. At the beginning of each day, set those 8 bottles on your desk or very near your work area. It's OK that the water is room temperature.

    Fruit and Veggie Week

    Eat fruit and vegetables Monday through Friday. No need for an elaborate plain, just do it. You can mix the two over the course of one day, or you can go with fruit Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and veggies Tuesday and Thursday. The following week, switch it up. Saturday and Sunday are not necessarily binge days, but you can have either baked, skinless chicken, or baked fish. The fruit you really want to stack up on are apples. Eat 4-8 apples every day.

    Exercise and Rest

    Exercise, like eating fruits and vegetables, does not have to be elaborate. You don't necessarily have to be a member of some fancy, expensive gym, just get out in nature and walk. That's it, plain and simple. Walk at least 1-2 miles every day, including weekends. If walking is not for you, get a stationary bike, position it in front of the TV set, and do work.

    The body needs rest. Some "experts" say at least 8 hours per day. It's not necessary to put an exact number on the hours of sleep you get but try for 6-8 hours consistently.

    Eliminate Stress

    Eliminating stress is easier said than done but the feat can be accomplished. It is a must that you incorporate, as quickly as possible, the first four suggestions on this list into your life. These prerequisites to good health will become your foundation. There's no way around it because without these health building blocks, you're doomed to fail. Stress is not a part of life, challenges are. Therefore, every situation that occurs in your life has nothing to do with stress but everything to do with how you are managing your life.




Final Thoughts

Follow the aforementioned guidelines and you will have no use for the word "stress." Peace, tranquility, and good health will become the order of your day.

    WHU ... this is a lovely list and full of good suggestions, all of which I like. You might want to rethink your bottled water ... not the water, but the bottles. Studies are now showing what a lot of people have been concerned about for years ... the plastics are not as safe as once thought.
