Introduction:We always said prayers each and every day before dinner, after dinner, and when we went to bed at night. These are some of the prayers that I was taught as I was growing up to say. What are some of the prayers that you were taught?
The Lord's Prayer is a very common prayer to say. This is the prayer that God taught us to pray. This is a very important prayer to remember to say as well as other prayers. There are a few different versions to say it but all mean the same thing. This is the way that I was taught.
It goes like this:
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen
We should always say a prayer before we eat and ask God to bless the food that we are about to eat. There are two prayers that I was taught when I grew up to say. To this day, I still say both of them depending on who I am with. One of them more often than the other.
These are the two:
Come Lord Jesus be our guest and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen.
God is Good, God is Great, let us thank Him for our food. Amen.
I was brought up by two wonderful parents. They had always said that you should always pray to God and thank Him for the food that you had just eaten.
This is the prayer that I was taught when I was growing up to say after dinner:
Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good and His mercy endureth forever. Amen.
We were always taught to say a prayer before we went to be at night. The prayer should always be said from your heart. You can either say something that you make up as you go along or a more common prayer.
This is the one that I was taught to say as I was growing up that I usually use every night. I usually add more to it than just this one:
Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.
This is the one that i have taught my kids to say when they were younger:
Now the light has gone away, Father listen while I pray. Asking you to watch and keep, and to send me quiet sleep. Amen.
I use both of them when I say prayers with my granddaughter just before I tuck her in.
When you get up in the morning you should always say a little prayer. This prayer should thank God for keeping you safe through the night. You should thank God for everything He has done for you. Ask God to bless people that might need help or that are hurting. Ask God to continue to keep you safe. Ask God to help you do what is right. Always remember to thank HIm for everything you have and everything that He has given you.
Prayer is very important. Without God, we are nothing and we have nothing. Remember to thank God for everything you have. Remember there is always someone else who has less than you do as far as family, health, and faith. Ask God to bless them and keep them safe.
I pray that I don't need to chant simple mantras to give my life meaning... and that I don't need imaginary friends to get me through adversity.
Sweet and dear. Thanks so much!
Great list of daily prayers! :)
Great advice. Thanks for the list of daily prayers. H5!
So good to read these prayers. Nice list!
This is really great adivce. H5!
This is a wonderful reminder to talk to and thank God for what we have. I especially love the prayers from the heart.
Very true and not a chore. To me it's like talking to my dad. :)
So wonderfully put. We all need to do these routinely. Thanks for a great reminder because I don't always pray when I eat and I know that I should show that I am thankful because I am. H5
Your list of prayers blessed me today. I do know all these prayers and talk to my Heavenly Father many times a day.One does not need religion to be thankful for all we have. I am thankful for adversity too since I am given strength to bare those burdens too.
