Introduction:We all started writing online for different reasons. Some simply seek a platform for self expression while others hope to earn a living with the written word. Still others hope to gain a name for themselves. But sometimes, that drive for success can go a bit further than intended and turn into an addiction.
If your first thought in the morning bypasses the gratitude for brilliant sunshine, a loving family and the joy of being alive and goes directly to "I need to check my work."--you might be addicted to online writing.
If ideas for new articles or lists pop into your head like the Bing commercial and you suddenly stop midstream in important conversations to jot down ideas--you might be addicted.
If you've given up your real-life friends in exchange for conversation with online writers, or even worse, have stopped talking to your family members because online friends need your attention--you might be addicted.
If updates on all your writing sites have you on the edge of your seat to see exactly how many readers you gained last night--or how much money you made--you might be addicted.
If you have begun to measure your success as a writer by how well your writing performs online, instead of how well you express your thoughts in writing--you might be addicted to online writing.
All kidding aside, it is easy to become obsessed with online writing to the point of shutting out those around you. Take some time today to join the "real world". Not only will your family appreciate it--you just might find some new topics to write about.
I think it's safe to say that all who commented are probably addicted to online writing.
So you're telling me that just bc I have two notebooks to write down ideas in each room (including the bathroom) AND that I always double check to make sure I have one in my bag before heading out the door that I'm addicted. Nope. I deny it. [BLEEP] Where's my notebook!?!?!
Argh! It's true!
I can't do these first morning things as I still work (until I'm officially layed-off 2/14) but I'm totally obsessed by ListMy5 all day!
Writing is my addiction I have all the signs! 5*
This is a truthful list of signs of an addiction to online writing sites alright! Tweeted
It looks as if I'm addicted to online writing! I have to check my earnings every morning. My family and other relationships aren't suffering, although they all know about my work. Thanks for publishing this on List My Five.
