Unless you are deaf, dumb and blind (and figuratively speaking, many are) you realize that the main line news media, aka, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc. are all in the business of shaping public opinion, and NOT in the business of factual reporting. It is imperative that the Internet remain free, as it is the primary means by which the unindoctrinated have to gain unbiased and informed information about what is really happening in the world, and what the government is doing. Hint: it probably isn't anything for your real good.
It has been said until it has become all but meaningless, but it is still true: guns do not kill people, people kill people. Guns are merely a tool, and become instruments of tyranny or of peace, all depending upon whose hand wields them. A free people has the right to self defense ... including, but not just against burglars, murders, stalkers, rapists and the like ... but also against a government that has overstepped its bounds and has become tyrannical.
Once a protected Constitutional American right, freedom of speech has been under increasing attack for a number of years. Christian children are not allowed to exercise their faith verbally in government controlled schools. Consider the case of Marine Corps veteran Brandon Raub, who posted anti-government sentiments on his Facebook wall. Within hours, FBI, Secret Service and county law enforcement agents swarmed his home, handcuffing him and taking him captive against his will, committing him to a psychiatric institution for his "own good." Be careful what you say and to whom!
Privacy is such a basic understood right that it has long been considered unnecessary to even state it as such. Alas ... those were the days before the Patriot Act, government drones, and an administration that openly admits its willingness to read every American's private emails. A good government would protect an American's right to privacy.
An adult American is a free person, and should be able to make educated decisions for one's self. This should include the right to drink alcohol, smoke marijuana (widely regarded by almost all experts as safer than alcohol) and take what are currently considered to be illegal drugs. Countries that have legalized drug use have witnessed a significant drop not only in the number of drug users, but also in violent crime, and in the amount of government money spent to combat what is no longer illegal "crime." People have the God given right to be responsible for themselves, and this is a right the government should not usurp.
You and I stand on the same principles. Another h5 for your great efforts.
