Introduction:Children need guidance, in order to grow up health minded. Show them the way by understanding this list.
Most children steal to get attention. They want attention throughout their day. If they seem to be ignored all the time, stealing may happen more often. Look and listen to the children in your care. They may just be crying out for a little attention.
Young children don't realize what they are doing most of the time. One time the little 2 yr. old took my angel throw, and tried stuffing it in her diaper bag. I told her it had to stay with me, and she said," Why'? I explained to her it was mine, and she should ask me if she wanted to take something home with her for a day or so. She hasn't done it anymore. They will grasp what you are telling them, if you do it gently, and with love.
Young children don't understand how they can get something's without stealing. Talk to them about asking their parents for something they like for their birthday, or from Santa. This will help them know there's ways of getting things they like.
Young children like to run around, and play keep away from you. They may laugh, hide things, and think there having an adventure. Let them know stealing is not fun, and adventurous.
Peer pressure is one bad kind of a bad example. Children observe things very well. Don't think that they don't understand if you take money from a family memeber without asking. This is setting a bad example for them.
Children are great. They need their loved ones to care how they grow up. What type of children they become may just be as simple as loving them with all your heart.
Well done accurate list.
I was about 5 or 6. I took a piece of gum from a store without paying for it. Three and a half decades later, I still remember that spanking. LOL!
Good advice and well written list!
I have a dog who will steal food off anyone's plate but that's as close as I get to a thief around here. Good reasons though why children will steal.
Nice list of 5 reasons. Well done.
Your list is full of parenting and adult tips to understand why children steal.
Thanks for the reasons why children steal. H5
All true ... but thankfully they're not hardened criminals yet and a good mom will have that set right in no time! I always told my children, too, that when they told a lie, that they were "stealing the truth" from the person to whom they lied.
