Introduction:Kitties have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have observed some points to share with you in this list of signs that should alert you to take your cat to the vet. Even if you see something that is not on this list and you are concerned, take your cat to the veterinarian since this list is not a complete list of reasons why cats should be seen by a doctor.
When your cat snubs her nose at the dry cat food, it does not always mean she is ill and needs to go to the vet. Cats are fussy creatures, so buy a different kind of dry cat food and see if the cat eats it. If there are two days that you notice the cat is not eating the dry cat food still don't panic. Do keep an eye out to monitor the food intake. After three days of not touching the dry cat food after your attempts to encourage eating, consider a trip to the vet to determine why your pet has suddenly stopped eating. Some of the things that might be going on are tooth or gum problems. Even eye conditions might be making the cat refuse to eat.
Some felines are fussy about moist cat food and won't eat certain kinds.Try more than one kind before going off to the vet saying your cat won't eat.If you see your cat chewing over to one side or being very picky at the plate, this might be a good time to go to the vet. The gums and teeth of cats older than 10 might need cleaning, pulling or could have an abscess too. My cat was 13 and he had an abscess and had to have his teeth cleaned which resulted in 2 teeth being pulled.Watch the behavior to tell you to see the vet.
Changing the water for your cat everyday should give you daily investigation of the sediment in the water bowl. If you see even small pieces of flesh, any blood or tiny bone fragments, make a vet appointment. Sometimes the cat is not having any medical crisis, but checking with your veterinarian will set your mind at ease.
When there is a huge intake of water by your cat, that might mean a trip to check the blood sugar should be done by your vet.Cats can acquire diabetes and that is one of the symptoms. If your cat is not drinking water like it used to, watch it for a 12 hour time and take to the vet with what you have noticed about your cat.
When you see any swelling on the outside of the cat in the face, neck or a slight bulge on the abdomen, this should be a reason to go to the vet to find out what that swelling is from. If the swelling is visible on the outside, there might be as much or more on the inside of your pet.
When ever you have a slight reason to go to the vet with your cat, it is best to go and clear your mind to set it at ease.
Coming back to say what a great list this is.
