Introduction:The new facebook changes stink. Here's why.
The facebook profile page used to sport a clean, non-cluttered look. Now? Five goofball photos in which I am tagged appear like thugs in a police line-up. "Yes, officer, it definitely is number three. I can tell by that Cuban cigar she was smoking in Puerto Penasco, Mexico back in 1997."
Determine what's logical and do the opposite -- that's sure what it seems like at Facebook Central. Looking for your friend Ludwig? Used to be you could easily scroll down the "L" list and find good ol' Beethoven right after Linda, Lorraine and Lucy. Now? I'm thinking I'd have an easier time locating ____ (fill in the blank with any name from the FBI's most-wanted list.)
You want my hometown? Where I went to school? Who is my employer? Before you had to click on a tab or two to dig that stuff up. Now it acts like a banner at the school's homecoming parade as it hovers over those five thugs in the police line-up. I'm thinking of filling in those spaces with absolute nonsense, just for the entertainment value. Employer? Edsel Motor Car Company. School? The London Academy of Freakonomics. Hometown? Seventh Ring, Saturn.
In the olden days of facebook, all the links to my money-making sites appeared directly underneath my profile picture. I'm sure they are still there...click tab; click drop-down menu; oops, a pop-up ad; start over; click tab... What? She wants to instant message me now?! Dang! click tab...
There is some truth in the saying "you can't teach an old dog a new trick." I have nothing whatsoever against learning new things -- that's why I enjoy reading big-fat history books and why I watch telenovelas for fine-tuning my Spanish skills. But there is also truth -- and much wisdom -- in the adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
New facebook changes? Nah, not interested.
Couldn't agree with you more - why they feel the need to incessantly change things is beyond me. This new chat format also makes me bananas.
Great list! H5
I'm feeling you on #3, TMI .. that's why I don't put in the exact city, close, but not my actual location.
Yeah, those 5 pics at the top are stupid. I guess they have to have something to do with their time (drive us crazy).
Akbar has issues with FB also. Where did his website links go? It's not so good for marketing written work anymore. Just poker.
I don't like Facebook changes either. My wife deleted her account. I sure am not attached to mine.
Reading this article/list reminds me of how happy I am that I dropped my facebook account! Somehow, inspite of not being on facebook, I'm still alive, well, and communicating with friends and family. Great article! high 5
High 5!!!!!!! I am sure every Facebook user agrees!
Yes, These things annoy me too. I was under the impression I was just unhappy they had to change things and now I agree "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".h5
It really stinks. I think I tried to write them last night and wasn't even sure....I really want out! H5
Good list and yes, those changes are annoying. I just figure it's like anything else in life, things change.
I do not care for the new facebook as well.
