Introduction:I have studied my son and learnt the ways of the 3 year olds. You wanna buddy up with a 3 year old? Follow these simple tricks.
The best way to do this is to go up to them, laugh in their face then run away, not too far. If this doesn't entice them to run to you then do it again. This is definitely one of my sons number 1 tricks to making buddies at the park.
Who do you want to be? My sons favourites are usually Flash, Superman, Spiderman, Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy. Once decided who he wants to be he will introduce himself by jumping in front of his "chosen one" and say "HI! I'M FLASH" he'll then throw a big beaming smile and go from there.
If my son sees a smaller child struggling he likes to help. Unfortunately this isn't always a good thing. On a play date he helped his friend get the talcum powder from the shelf which was out of her reach (he's a tall boy), which she proceeded to throw all over the carpet.
Don't just wait for your new friend to make suggestions, have them ready. I once witnessed Tyler making a friend by walking up to a boy and saying "Hi! Lets do chasing!" and they played together for almost an hour.
The more you share the nicer they are to you. Right now my son prefers to be on the receiving end of sharing and occasionally needs prompts in remember how to share but he is getting there!
