Introduction:Made up words are fun! Just ask Shakespeare who made up words willy nilly. Although, ironically, he was not the originator of the phrase willy nilly.
Used in multiple science fiction shows since first employed by the first Battlestar Galactica in 1978. Yes, it is used in place of the more familiar f-bomb.
Another f-bomb substitute used this time in the Sci Fi original, Farscape. "Frell me dead!" being one of the more notable uses. Frell was briefly popular outside of the show but was quickly replaced by the Battlestar Galactica frak.
Also a Farscape invention. Dren, simply put, means crap. Dung. Excrement. "Same dren, different planet." Occasionally, dren, like its cousin frell, was also used in place of the f-bomb.
BBCs Red Dwarf replaced virtually every swear word with "smeg". For some reason, this was a continually employed comedic device that held up rather surprisingly throughout the series.
Who can forget the explicative used by the much beloved Mork from Ork, a title character in the four-season show Mork and Mindy? It's a rather strong Orkan version of gosh darn it.
