Salsa dance originated with Cuban music. A partner is necessary for this spicy type of dance. You take three steps to each 4 beat measure. Other latin dances include the cha cha, mambo, salsa, rumba, merengue, and tango.
Hip hop dance style is what you see a lot on MTV. It's an urban style that started in the 70's fresh and funky. You dance with a crew, and need to know how to break, lock, and pop. Knowing the Harlem shake, the moonwalk, the heel-toe, and the glide will make you cool in hip-hop dance.
This middle eastern dance is quite sensual. Women usually perform belly dance, but men can too. There is no partner in this dance. You use body isolations, hip moves, and undulations. Wear a hip scarf or sash to set off the hips while belly dancing.
Do a little soft shoe and shim sham, then shuffle off to Buffalo. Do time steps to make a tapping rhythm you can hear as you dance. there's no partner necesary for tap dance. Tap expression requires rhythmic awareness, and is fun! Wear special tap shoes with flat heels to start.
The Electric Slide, the Boot Scoot, the Tush Push, and the Continental are all line dances that are danced with a group of people in, you guessed it, a line. Everybody faces in the same direction, and does the same choreographed steps at the same time. Line dancing is easy to learn.
