Introduction:The most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease. In most people, the joint layer of cartilage breaks down and gradually wears away over the years. There are some conditions, however, where the damage can progress quickly. When the bones start rubbing together, it results in swelling, pain and loss of movement. Although the exact osteoarthritis causes are unknown, there are many factors that seem to contribute to the problem.
Joints are always in motion and they are subject to injury. Activities like sports and work stress joints. Osteoarthritis causes from injuries seem to happen when one major accident occurs or when the same joint is repeatedly injured over a period of time.
Certain individuals are more prone to develop osteoarthritis causes because of genetics. It seems to run in families. Some people are born with a defect in their cartilage. Sometimes, the joints are not formed or aligned properly. Conditions like hip dislocation and bow legs can be inherited.
Being overweight is most likely another one of the main osteoarthritis causes. There is simply too much stress and strain on joints, especially the weight-bearing ones like the hips and knees. When weight reduction takes place, it decreases the chance for further joint-damage.
Inactivity may be another one of the possible osteoarthritis causes. When a person is inactive and gets little exercise, the muscles that surround and support the joints become weak. This weakness leaves them vulnerable to injuries and stiffness. Exercise strengthens them and leaves them more flexible.
Wear and tear just happens as a person ages. Osteoarthritis causes a lot of pain in elderly people. Not all older people will develop joint-problems. It seems to happen more to those who have experienced prolonged overuse of certain body parts. Women, for example, seem to have problems in their fingers because they use their hands so much. Certain professions like dancers, laborers and athletes will develop osteoarthritis in later years.
Back with another h5 for a great list.
Some of these are unavoidable, but not all. Thanks for sharing the list!
I was running up and down stairs until a few years ago. My weight is pretty maintained but I do believe it was when my bedroom was upstairs and I climbed steep stairs for years. I really do. I do exercises now with much improvement. Your causes for the condition are on the money too! H5
