Be sure to have a baby safety gate up by the stairs. Be sure that it is safely secured. If it is for the top of the stairs, be sure to get one that is for the top of the stairs. There are certain ones that you can use of the top of the stairs. My personal favorite one for the bottom of the stairs is North States Superyard gate. This one is a non slip gate that is 26 inches high and folds to a play area of 18 square feet. You can add panels or take panels off. It opens up easily and is portable. This one can block off the bottom of the stairs as well as several different rooms off at the same time depending on how close your rooms are together. It can also be used as a playpen to keep you child safe inside playing with his or her toys. There are many different types of gates that can be used, just be certain that whichever one you choose is safe for the area that you would like to use it for. You can purchase safety gates of all sizes and styles in so many different department stores as well as hardware stores. They range from so many different prices. Be sure to check into it and keep your baby and toddler safe from falling down stairs.
Outlet covers are a must when you have a baby or young children around. Young kids tend to want to put their fingers into things out of curiosity and you don't want them sticking their fingers or anything else into the outlets and getting a shock. Be sure to have all of your outlets safely covered with outlet covers. They are very cheap to purchase. You will be happy that you picked up these inexpensive outlet covers.
Keep all of your fragile and breakable items up. Babies and small children like to investigate out of curiosity. That is how they learn. This is a normal thing for babies and toddlers to do so be sure that these things are up out of their reach. They may decide to pick something up and drop it which could break and then they could get cut or hurt. Be sure that all of your fragile and breakables are up out of reach for their safety.
Kitchen and bathroom drawers and cabinets should have the safety latches on. These latches will prevent them from getting into drawers and cabinets that might have knifes, scissors, breakable dishes, corning ware or anything else that they should not be getting into that might hurt them. The safety latches on the cabinets and drawers will also prevent them from getting their fingers pinched when they try to open or close the drawers and cabinets. Be sure that this doesn't happen by having the drawers and cabinets all securely latched. These safety latches are very reasonable to buy and definitely worth the purchase. There are a variety of different styles and types to choose from. See attached link to see some styles.
Keep all of your medicine bottles up high where they can't be reached. This includes all prescription and non prescription medicine bottles. Be sure to get the child proof covers on for your prescription medicine bottles so that it will be more difficult for them to get the bottles open if for some reason they should get their hands on your medicine bottles. This is very important that this is done to keep your child from taking any medicine.
The number one priority as a parent is to be sure that you child is always safe. Be sure to take extra precautions and be sure that you have all of your steps secure and safe by having a gate at the top of the stairs as well as the bottom of the stairs. Be sure that all of the medicine bottles are up high and out of reach for any child no matter what their age is. Be sure that all of our outlets are covered by outlet covers, and your cabinets and drawers are all securely latched. Be sure that knifes and scissors are up and out of reach as well as any fragile and breakable items.
