The most obvious reason to have a credit card is to build credit. It is a good idea to have a credit on your name so you can get a loan for things like a house or a car. The more payments you make on time, the higher your credit score will get.
Many credit card companies have rewards attached to them. If you spend so much money you will get points for charging things which you can cash in for rewards. You can get gift cards and other products and can reward yourself.
Having a credit card is great in an emergency. If you were stuck in the middle of nowhere with a car that is broken down, you may need a credit card to charge the car repairs in order to get somewhere on the road.
Credit cards are much safer than carrying around cash. You are able to cancel the credit card so no-one else can charge anything if it was stolen or lost. There is no way to replace cash if it goes missing.
If you lose the receipt to something you have purchased and you want to exchange it, you have your credit card statement to show it. Sometimes the proof will serve as a protection of purchase which may be helpful to you.
