Introduction:Nursing your newborn is not for everyone. The choice between breastfeeding and bottle feeding all depends on the mom's health and lifestyle. But if you are one of those people that are able to breastfeed, that is awesome. Here is a list of some benefits for breastfeeding your sweet little newborn.
Being able to breastfeed your baby is a very healthy choice. Your baby is getting more vitamins and nutrients from breast milk. Breast milk also protects babies from all different kinds of illnesses. Breast milk helps babies with their immune system. Breastfeeding gives them less of a chance to get ear infections, colds, flues, diarrhea and more. Breast milk helps keep more germs out of your baby's system instead of letting them into your baby. Therefore they will have a less chance to develop viruses and other illnesses.
Breastfeeding your baby gives you and your baby more time to bond. You are usually the one that feeds the baby more often than anyone else in the house. Your baby therefore gets to know your scent, the way you breath, your voice, and therefore recognizes you quicker than any other family member. This bonding time is very important for both you and your newborn.
Breastfeeding your newborn is very convenient. There are no worries about running out of formula in the middle of the night or having to heat up the water and mix up the formula. There is no wait time for your newborn to be able to eat. You don't need to worry about bringing bottles, water, and formula with you wherever you go. The convenience of having the breast milk ready at anytime is a definite plus for both you and your baby.
Formula has gotten to be very expensive. It seems like formula is always going up in price. If you aren't planning on pumping your breast milk, there is no need to spend money on bottles either. Breastfeeding is the way to go to save money on feeding your baby so you can spend more money on something else that is needed for both the baby and your family. This is another benefit of breastfeeding your baby.
If you are breastfeeding your baby, there are no worries about if there will be any recalls. There was just a major recall not too long ago on Similac which made it very inconvenient for moms and dads to try to find a new formula that will agree with your baby right away and that still has the ingredients in it that you wanted in a formula. Other formulas have also been recalled in the past for different reasons. You know what your baby is getting in your breast milk right from the start. No guessing what is in the formula as far as the ingredients and if there are bugs or something else that was contaminated in the formula to be recalled. This is another excellent reason to breastfeed your baby.
It is recommended to breastfeed your baby for at least the first 6 months of a baby's life to get the baby off to the right start as far as his or her immune system is concerned.
No worries for a couple if they still want to go out because it is very easy and convenient to pump and bottle and even freeze breast milk for those times when mom has to work or needs a night out.
Wonderful list for good reason to breastfeed. Did you know you can also get breastmilk tested to make sure the baby is getting everything they need.
I tried to breastfeed but my daughter wouldn't have anything to do with it.
Breast feeding my babies was a lovely experience. The La Leche League can help if you think you can't do it.
Very good points! All mine were breastfed and it worked out well.
Breast feeding is superior, but some mothers have problems either emotionally or they do not produce enough milk. I was not able to breast feed my first child who was premature. I like how you said it depends on the mom's health and lifestyle. Good list.
Very good reasons. I loved the convenience and the cost the most. I nursed 3 out of my 5 and only didn't do the first two because I was young and no one suggested it.
Breast feeding is still the best. Your list has good points.
I have no babies, but your list is persuasive for mothers. I especially enjoyed the "no recall" and gave you a HI5.
