Introduction:Everyone loves humor, comedy and the funny people whose talents bring it all together. Humor is also subjective. My list of the top five funniest people may be different from yours -- or maybe not. Let me know if you agree! Heeere's Johnny!!
Jim Carrey is my personal, numero-uno funny person of anyone working in the biz today. I keep a copy of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective on hand for whenever my mood needs a lift. Check out his early roles as "the white guy" on TV's In Living Color as well as his short but stellar part in The Dead Pool, the final installment of the Dirty Harry movies.
Speaking of Dirty Harry... Clint Eastwood is known for his ability to pare down a block of movie dialogue to its barest essentials. In doing so, the essence of his characters comes through in a few brilliantly chosen words. Even in his most serious movies, such as Unforgiven and Gran Torino, it's hard to keep from laughing at Eastwood's unique ability to deliver a line. "Go ahead, make my day!"
This relatively new talent to the world of comedy is quite the writer and actress. A SNL alumna, Fey has parlayed her dead-on impression of Sarah Palin into a cottage industry. Fey also stars in TV's 30 Rock with...
Once a leading man in serious dramas, Baldwin has evolved into the slightly pudgy middle-aged man whose comedic timing is impeccable. Watch him opposite Tina Fey on 30 Rock and Meryl Streep in It's Complicated.
What can I say about Eddie Murphy that hasn't already been said?! He was brilliant on SNL for his spoof of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. He went on to star in an unprecedented number of hit comedies. Eventually he received a best supporting actor nomination for his role in Dreamgirls. A personal favorite Eddie Murphy bit: In the movie Bowfinger, Murphy does a dead-on impersonation of JFK lusting after the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.
OK, so I didn't list Johnny Carson as I led you to believe. But when I make my list of the funniest people no longer with us, Johnny will top the list. It's all in the...timing.
Love Jim Carrey too! I wouldn't have thought of Clint Eastwood, but what you said makes sense, yes. I also LOVE Bill Murray. Nice list!
Actually, Jim Carrey is the bomb. In Liar, Liar, this man drove me nuts with laughter. The first time I have ever seen him was in "When Peggy Sue Got Married". Hard to believe it's been that long.
I love this list. Though there are some people I don't see on here, which makes me sad! :)
Great list. Alec Baldwin surprised me a little. Jim Carrey has made me scream, especially in Liar, Liar but then whenever I see him I laugh, in fact, I want to laugh now. Thanks for a great list.
Excellent post :)
check py lists too
Tim Conway should be at the top of the list.
Great pics. I have to admit, I love the classics too though...Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, Tim Conway. Too many to choose from.
I think you should replace Jim Carrey with Tim Conway. I'm not sure there's anything funnier than Tim as the old man on the Carol Burnett show. Fun list;
Great list of funny people! I love 'em all, especially Clint Eastwood, who is pretty funny, come to think of it!
