The playoffs largely depend on solid starting pitching. In a series featuring a team's top three pitchers in the rotation, the Dodgers have a clear advantage. Offensive players such as Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez and Matt Kemp will go a long way in helping to put runs on the board and take the Dodgers to the World Series.
After finishing the regular season as the best team, the Angels will look to get a little help with the pitching staff and a high powered offense to carry them to a World Series. Having the best overall offensive player in the game in Mike Trout doesn't hurt either.
A starting rotation which had an MLB-best ERA of 3.04 will need to continue where they left off to end the regular season if they want to have postseason success.
An extremely powerful offense and dominating starting three in the rotation seem to make the Tigers a clear favorite in the American League. However, Detroit also sports the worst bullpen of the postseason. If their starters can't go deep into games, this could be a very short run for the Tigers.
A team who topped the majors in home runs also boasts one of the best bullpens. Questions about the starting rotation is all that seems to hold the Orioles back from making a strong run.
