Thanksgiving takes a lot of preparation but is so worth the hard work when you can get together with your family and friends. Here are my top 5 things that must be on my shopping list.
Of Course everyone needs to have turkey on their shopping list when it comes to Thanksgiving. Turkey is the number 1 poultry to eat on Thanksgiving in the US. Some people will stuff it with stuffing, and other people will not stuff it at all. Either way, Turkey is important.
My favorite mashed potatoes are made with evaporated milk, butter, and salt. If we have no evaporated milk then sour cream works well too. Good old fashioned mashed potatoes go great with turkey.
No matter what way you like to eat sweet potatoes, they are important to have on Thanksgiving. I personally don't eat them, but we never have a Thanksgiving dinner without them. Actually, they are a killer to get ready, but it's well worth it. Baked with marshmallows is a hit in my family.
Thanksgiving dinner is just miserable if there is no cranberry sauce to go with your turkey. If you like stuffing, some people will use cranberry sauce for their stuffing too. Either way, you have to make sure this ends up on your Thanksgiving list.
Black olives sitting on the coffee table while the smell of dinner is in the air is how I remember Thanksgiving at my grandmothers. I remember as a kid putting an olive on each finger and eating them off one by one. It's important now as an adult that we always have black olives.
This is my my list of top 5 necessary items for thanksgiving. What would your family list include?
