Shiny, reflective objects, such as aluminum foil or the information side to a CD or DVD will keep woodpeckers off of your house. Attach pieces of aluminum foil or an aluminum foil pie plate to the side of your house so they will catch and reflect light. Or, hang an old or damaged CD or DVD by a piece of twine so it will spin and startle a woodpecker with the reflection of the light.
Woodpeckers do not like loud noises. Create a way to cause constant noise around your house and woodpeckers will stay off your wood siding. Wind chimes or cans tied together in a way that resembles wind chimes are a way to make noise that will startle or keep a woodpecker off your house. You can also play AM or static radio stations near a window where woodpeckers are pecking holes in your house.
Hang a few fake snakes to the side of your house and this will keep woodpeckers off your house. You can also try a fake owl or hawk and place it near an area where woodpeckers are pecking your house. This will keep a woodpecker off your house because they will feel there is the danger of a preditor nearby.
If you are removing a tree because it has died or there is a large, upright stump near your home, leave it alone. Hopefully, woodpeckers will use the dead tree to peck holes instead of your house.

Hang a net designed for keeping animals off your house, from an eave. Woodpeckers will not land on the netting and will stay off your house.
These methods for keeping a woodpecker off your house may not work 100% of the time but they are worth a try for keeping woodpecker from pecking holes in your wood siding.
