Bagels used to come in plain and onion. I'm not sure when the influx of non-Jewish folk took over the baking of a traditional Jewish bagel but there are some bagel flavors which are just plain old WRONG!
Oy the Tsorus! The first time I saw a banana nut bagel in a bin I couldn't believe it. WHO in their right mind would want a banana nut bagel? I don't even allow these atrosities to comingle with my onion bagels in the same bag.
Let's get this straight - there should be NO fruit in bagels, that includes Blueberries or strawberries. A blue bagel doesn't even look appealing - who the heck came up with THAT idea?
Yes, I've seen it with my own little Jewish eyes. Coming in at #3 on the horrible bagel list is a maple nut bagel. Similar to the fact that there should be no fruit in bagels, there should never, ever be a nut found in a bagel.
Ok, whoever the baker was who came up with this gem was on something and it wasn't the hefty odor of lox. Chocolate chip bagels are so wrong it's offending to me type the words.
Folks! Don't even feed these to your children! Get them a Poptart instead of an apple cinnamon bagel. Even if they plead. It's just not right...Someone meschugenah created this bagel flavor.
Once the influx of these horrible bagel flavors hit the market, the cream cheese was not far behind. Nothing except plain cream cheese (or, on a wild day, add some scallions) should grace any good Jewish bagel. What the heck ever happened to tradition?!!!
Good list but I actually like some of these kinds of bagels
I actually like some of these flavors. Everything is my favorite.
Good list.
Not Jewish but I love this list. You are so funny! Personally I love an everything bagel and I am not offended by blueberry ones either- hey, you gotta get your fruit wherever you can! I can see how a Jewish girl would get offended though. Great list! High 5 to you.
Okay, I'm not Jewish so maybe that's why most of these don't offend me so much. Chocolate chip bagels are tasty! The rest, yeah, I'm with you. Not the best flavors for bagels.
