I love the Backstreet Boys. I started listening to them in 6th grade (1995/1996) and haven't stopped. For those of you who are unaware, the Backstreet Boys are a pop/dance/R&B musical group (or... "Boy Band") made up of Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, AJ McLean, and Howie Dorough (and for most of their career, Kevin Richardson). They have millions of fans all over the world who live to KTBSPA (That's "Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive," by the way) and many more "closet Backstreet Boys fans," as well. Their songs have sold in the millions and have had amazing effects on people's lives. This list represents (at least, in my opinion) the top five Backstreet Boys songs.
This song is not my personal favorite, but I really do love it. I love it even more, and it makes this list, because it seems to be the most "accessible" BSB song out there. Maybe it's because of the "Chinese Backstreet Boys," or maybe it just came out at the perfect time. Whatever the reasons, people everywhere seem to love "I Want it That Way," even people who don't like the Backstreet Boys! When a song can be THAT universal... it must be great (or at least, really catchy!)
This is one of the more hard-hitting Backstreet Boys songs out there. It deals with loss, death, pain, loneliness... Basically, you're gonna need a box of kleenex for this one. Especially if you watch the music video and see Brian in the hospital and Kevin watching old video footage of him and his father.
This song always makes me imagine some epic movie trailer in my head for some reason! Maybe because it is such an epic song. Throughout the whole thing, you can feel the power and pain through their voices... and then the key change hits and the whole thing becomes even more amazing. I like to crank this one up loud in the car and sing along, imagining my movie trailer in my head the whole time... oh, and paying attention to the road of course.
I love when I get to hear all the guys sing on a song. And on "I Still..." each Backstreet Boy gets featured, even if just a little. It starts with Brian, then Nick, then AJ, then Howie's featured for a second, and finally, my favorite part comes in when Kevin is featured and dramatically sings about how, if only he could find this person he misses, he would never let them go. It is such a moving moment, made even more moving by the fact that "I Still..." comes off of "Never Gone," Kevin's last BSB album.
This song is just fun and it has a bumpin' bass line too! The music video is awesome as well, as the guys are dressed up like Halloween! Brian is the Wolfman, AJ is the Phantom of the Opera, Nick is a Mummy, Howie is a Vampire, and Kevin is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The thing that makes this song truly one of the top five Backstreet Boys songs though, is that it has a line in it that always gives die-hard BSB fans hope: "So everybody, everywhere... don't be afraid, don't have no fear. I'm gonna tell the world, make it understand. As long as there be music, we'll be comin' back again."
Other top choices for me? "Incomplete," "The Answer to Our Life," "Masquerade," "How Did I Fall in Love with You," "10,000 Promises," "We've Got it Goin' On," and so many more! What are your top five Backstreet Boys songs?
Some of these are quite good. H5
Backstreet Boys are amazing performers. I love their acapella stuff, their doo-wop stuff, and all that kind of thing. Thanks for sharing your top five too! I love it!
5. Movin' On (an unreleased a cappella song. beautiful)
Climbing the Walls was actually meant to be a part of the Spiderman soundtrack but BSB decided to use it for their album instead. Could be why you see a movie trailer each time lol. My top 5 BSB songs of all time:
1. Back To Your Heart
2. Siberia
3. I Still
4. Undone
This is a truly wonderful list of the Backstreet boys songs.
Great choices!
