I'm bad about reading a book all the way to the end even if I don't like it because I'm always sure I will find something to love. No so with these.
I love time travel books, but I kept finding holes in the story. It often became tedious and unbelievable. The movie was even worse.
This book contains all the liberal religious misconceptions of today and old stereotypes. Example: Not only is God a woman in this book, we are supposed to be shocked that she is black. The author does not believe his audience is intelligent. Point blank.
Yes, Mary of Little House on the Prairie. She basically tells the scripts of her favorite episodes in her own words. She needs better words. I was warned it was awful and it was. Read Confessions of a Prairie Bitch instead. Wonderful insider account of Little House on the Prairie
Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story. Instead going along on a great trip through Greece, we are weighted down with a morose 50 year old woman waiting for her impending death and a spoiled college student who cannot cope with a rejection of one college application. I hated it.
I didn't believe it for a minute. The over-the-top vandalism going unpunished, the constant annoying supposedly funny quips did nothing to bring the characters to life. Don't bother.
I hope I save you from buying them. I didn't buy any of them. I'm a library patron! But I do buy books I like for gifts.
All of the lower case "the's" in the titles are due to the program and can't be edited. Just saying.
I will avoid all of these...they aren't really to my taste, anyway.
Although it's not necessarily categorized as a book, I regret reading the U.S. Constitution...not enough plot, but the tone is extraordinary. 5 Stars!
Hated the Shack book, pure drivel.
Way to go! I love that you got people commenting on their reading!
thank you for the heads up on these books. I rely on your great discreation.
I loved The Time Traveler's Wife. I've read it twice. However, everyone have their opinions.
Thanks for the warning. I do not like wasting my time.
Ooh The Time Travelers Wife I couldn't even finish because I hated it so much.. I read about 2/3'rds and said.. uh, no thank you. I was at my daughter's dance practice waiting for her to come out and bored, but I put down the book, and just sat there quietly cause the book drove me nuts.. lol Great list! I will be SURE to not read the others!
Haven't read any of them. Thanks for the info.
Aww :( Am I the only one here who LIKED The Time Traveler's Wife? lol
I did not care for the Time Traveler's Wife either and was even more disappointed when I saw the movie..Yeah I know...but sometimes Hollywood "fixes" things and makes them more palatable. Good list!
Great list 5 star!
I don't have any of these on my "to read" list. Thanks for forewarning us.
Well, this was a great heads up! Especially number 4, sounds dull ~
Thanks for the list!
Great idea for a list!!! Too many books, too little time. Good to know which ones to skip.
Great list! I thought about Time Traveler's Wife, but opted for James Rollins' books instead (awesome!).
My wife was not thrilled with the Time Travelers Wife either. I have not read any others on your list. Thanks for the unrecomendation
Fun list for the front page! Congratulations!
Great list! I hate getting to the end of a book and saying "Why did I bother?" You've Been Warned by James Patterson comes to mind!
Very good list-you have helped me slim down my winter reading list!! thanks
I wish I had more time to read. When I find some, I'll skip the ones you listed.
I end up doing the exact same thing: finishing a bad book to the end. Thanks for the heads up! I would also like to NOT recommend the book Women, Food and God. It was horrible. So surprised Oprah recommended it..
Great reviews of some books I've never read (and apparently, never should! haha) This really is a great list idea for List My 5. Thanks!
See, and I just loved the Time Travelers Wife. Haven't read the others here
You're good that you can finish a bad book. You get kudos for that. I have finished a few and it seems such a waste of time. I simply stopped! Many times I find unheard of authors at book sales (like author Hiliary Waugh) and find these types very interesting. Thanks!
Thanks for steering me clear of these books. I recently previewed a new book by Anne Rice - Of Love and Evil for Amazon Vine. OMG...I HATED THAT BOOK! It was sheer torture...every page of it. I finally quit halfway through and just wrote the scathing review. I couldn't stand another minute of it.
Great topic for a 5's list!
Great list and thanks for the heads up. I bypassed all of these except for the shack, I agree with what you said but I did find some value in it.
Nice list of book to avoid.
You reviews made me laugh! ("She needs better words.") Very well done. Few things are more annoying than when a writer doesn't respect his/her audience's intelligence -- and especially when the writer's intelligence is found lacking! Thanks for letting me know what to avoid!
