Some people love change, while others are afraid of the unknown. Even if you refuse to move forward, technology becomes extinct and you're left to make baby steps to change. For people who fall headfirst into change, the top five ways American society is changing include these transformations that include technology.
The landline telephone is near extinction. The handset sitting on a desk or hanging from the wall looks to teens the same way a crank telephone looked to their parents. Cell phones continue to shrink in size and the apps menu continues to grow.
Once the domain of the the wealthy, the monster-screen television is now at price points where most families can afford a large-screen television set with remotes and features.
Newspapers and magazines are also nearing extension. As print papers announce deadlines for publication and transfer to online forums, people relying on print media for news must move to online services. The majority of Americans today receive their news from television programming, and not news broadcasts, according to a Gallup Poll.
Fans of stove and oven food preparation may also become extinct in the new age of technology that resembles a Jetson's cartoon. Food is now microwaved in frozen plastic dishes taken from a box or from packages of factory prepared and preserved menu items.
Sitting down for a relaxing session of reading old school fans met picking out a book and an easy chair. Technology is now moving paper and print reading material to an online or software platform. Pads and screens feature pages once reserved for paper. While the medium may save trees used for paper, only the future will tell the toll taken on the human eye from looking at computer screens for long periods of time.
Awesome list! H5
Amazing progress huh? This all came about so fast, too! High 5~
Excellent look at technology and where it's headed. I figure the next huge step in tech evolution we will be back to wood burning stoves and pen and paper. By then our great great grandchildren will have no idea.
You're right "Newspapers and magazines are nearing extinction" and we definitely don't know what toll this will have on the eyes, but I wear a slightly tinted pair of glasses when I'm on the computer, not sure if that will help or not .. nice list .. Hi5
This is all true...in a matter of about 10 years or so, the TV, telephone, and books have all declined in their use due to the proliferation of the internet and various PC-devices.
