These days, many parents are teaching their kids never to take candy from strangers... but then on Halloween, parents feel conflicted because trick or treating is really just that--taking candy from strangers. Here's some alternatives.
Hosted by many churches and other community groups, trunk or treat involves taking children to a familiar place and getting candy from people's cars that are decorated with different themes. In most cases, the children know the adults passing out candy.
Most zoos offer great Halloween events for children to enjoy. Call your local zoo to find out what kinds of activities they offer on Halloween.
Let your kids invite their friends over for a big party. Try out some "icky" recipes to serve the kids and don't forget the fun Halloween music!
Many shopping malls offer trick or treating. Since kids know that it's OK to go to the store to get candy, this type of trick or treating will not send mixed messages to your child.
Halloween on a farm can be a lot of fun! Hayrides, apple cider, corn mazes and more make for a great, memorable Halloween! If you don't know of any local farms that offer these activities, just ask around. Someone is sure to have ideas for you!
nice list!
Or you could just throw a "Reformation Day" party instead, since it is the day Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church wall!
