No matter what anyone says, holding your infant will not spoil him or her. Babies need touch and affection to thrive, so go ahead and cuddle with your baby as much as you want.
If your baby will not stop crying no matter what you do, don't worry, it's not personal. Just like adults, babies sometimes have bad days and needs to let off some steam. If you have checked their diaper, fed them, tried playing with them, changing their location and it's not time for a nap, you safely assume your baby just needs to cry.
Remember that you need to take care of yourself as well. Let someone else watch your baby while you relax in the tub or spend an hour or so shopping. Put your baby in a stroller and go for a walk. You will benefit by having some time to refresh yourself and your baby will benefit by having a happy mom.
You spend so much time with your baby, that you can often tell when something is not quite right. No matter what anyone tells you or what you read in a book, if you have a concern don't hesitate to call your baby's doctor.
When your baby is little, the seemingly endless feedings, crying spells and sleepless nights can get you down. Take some time to play with them while they are awake and happy or gaze at them while they sleep. It's these sweet moments that make everything else worth it.
