Introduction:With unemployment high and the economy going even further downhill, finding a job is difficult - at it's very best. There are a few ways that increases your odds of landing a job.
You have to get out there and look. Search high and low. Go places that you never would dream of going. Set a schedule and have daily goals for your job search.
Talk to your friends, family, neighbors, former co-workers and everyone else you know or meet. Somebody knows someone who might be able to help. The lead to you becoming gainfully employed can be with anyone.
Think outside of the box. Don't just look at jobs available; think of jobs that can be created for you. Consider your skills, training and education; come up with new and different ways they can be used.
Rework your resume. Let your resume tell potential employers the company can't survive without you. Use specific numbers and hard-hitting verbs when describing your past performances. Be honest; if you're caught in an "untruth," you've lost any chance you had.
Remember you aren't looking for your dream job. You are looking for a job that will feed you and your family and keep a roof over your head. Take what is offered and look for something better. Think of this as a way of adding to your unique skill set.
There are no guarantees in finding a job; no sure fire way to become employed. Wish there were. Just keep trying and never give up.
