Clinical studies are slowly unraveling what causes cancer, if not exactly how to cure cancer. But, with some preventative eating, you increase your chances of living a longer, cancer-free life.
This one is pretty much a no-brainer but eating a diet of wholesome, non-pesticide, non-hormone laden food will decrease your chances of getting cancer. Although these types of food may not be quite as pretty as their non-organic counterparts, you may just sacrifice a little bit of pretty for a little longer life. A deal anyway one looks at it.
Fill each lunch and dinner plate at least 1/3 full of leafy greens, such as spinach, kale and natural lettuces. As a rule of thumb, the darker the green, the higher it is in anti-oxidants.
Broccoli has a lot of natural cancer fighting agents so it's wise to stock up on fresh, or even frozen, broccoli stalks. Don't just eat the heads as the stalks are equally as delicious when prepared properly.
If you follow this easy rule, you'll be avoiding processed flour and grains and fill your diet with better fiber choices such as brown rice and wheat flour. Avoiding sugar is also key to eating an anti cancer diet.
Fiber works as a natural cleaner to your colon and keeps things moving smoother so load up on fiber. Eat the peels of fruits such as apples to get the most fiber from your diet choices. You may also consider using a fiber supplement, such as benefiber, to add up to 5 grams of fiber per serving in a clear glass of water.
Exercise is also necessary in the quest to reduce the chances of getting cancer. But, then again, the secrets to avoiding cancer still have not been unlocked so use your best judgment in choosing a healthy lifestyle.
