Polling place workers earn money for assisting at the voting locations for federal, state and local elections. The work usually only lasts one or two days for most appointments. Jobs typically open up a year before the collection and may last a year after the official information collection period.
International airports or busy municipal airports use screeners to search luggage, inspect travelers and explore the carryon luggage via x-ray or hand inspections. Temporary workers assist during busy holidays or peak travel periods mean additional air passengers. Hiring is done through independent companies contracting with the federal government and the airports.
During peak periods of purchasing and the end of the fiscal year, military bases and warehouses hire additional staff to assist in audits and inventory calculation. These jobs offer short-term assignments for local residents.
