It's been 17 years since Kurt Cobain's death, on April 5th. He was a great singer and Nirvana was an awesome band. Here are my favorite songs from Nirvana.
From their 3rd album In Utero, the album was released in 1993. It was the band's third Number 1 Rock Hit. Kurt Cobain wrote the song and the general meaning of it was dedicated to his wife, Courtney Love and his daughter.
From the album Nevermind, Come as you are was the second single from their second studio album. It was their second Top 40 hit from the U.S. It was completed in only a few takes, and while the phrase "And I don't have a gun" was sang by Kurt too early while recording, the producer Bruce Vig left it as is. Also, Kurt singing the lyrics was overdubbed and his phrase "Memoria" was sampled near the end of the song.
This song is also from their album In Utero in 1993. I love this song. I love the way alot of these songs have a momentum in them, they start off slow and the chorus is heavier, he was such a great artist. My favorite lyrics in it are "I wish I could eat your cancer before you turn black"
Lithium was released as a single in 1992 and reached #64 on the Billboard 100 chart. I like the lyrics "Light my candles in a daze cause I found God" The song alternates between slow and fast sections. The music video for Lithium was their 2nd music video they produced.
A remake from David Bowie's song. They sang it live on their MTVs Unplugged appearance in 1993. It also appeared on the MTV Unplugged in New York album the following year. It's an acoustic song, very melodic.
Good list.
I remember a couple of those ....
