LARPing (live action role playing) involves assuming the role of a character and acting it out yourself. Instead of playing a video game on a console, you perform heroic (or villainous) deeds yourself!
LARPing lets me escape from the real world for a little while. I can use my imagination (which helps as a writer) and focus on something creative.
LARP is a great way to meet other people. Most people also tend to be more outgoing in the LARP environment and it's fun to get to know people in and out of character.
I minored in music in college and I love to sing. However, I rarely do this professionally. I like to play bards in LARPs, which enables me to sing all the time.
Since my LARP takes place over the weekend, I get to go camping with my friends. This really fosters an environment conducive to teamwork.
As part of my game's creative team, I really enjoy thinking up plot points that surprise the players. Writing mods (modules--short occurrences in the game) that allow characters to evaluate themselves is an extremely rewarding thing.
Nice list! H5!
Sounds like fun!
