There are certain Civilization 5 achievements that are immensely satisfying! They may vary depending on the type of gamer you are, but all of the following are gratifying.
There's nothing like beating the game. It's tough to get a Civilization 5 victory. It doesn't matter whether you got a world domination win or a diplomatic victory, either way it's a lot of work. Congratulations! Perhaps it is time to move up the scale on the difficulty ladder? Sid Meier and Firaxis were wise to include so many victory options, sine
Conquering another tribe is a huge accomplishment in Civilization 5 because it is the result of a tremendous amount of planning. As with many turn based strategy games, you are required to think two steps ahead of the opponent and react accordingly. Conquest is a sign that you have done a bunch of things right: troop placement, movement, scouting, counter attacks and so on.
Building a Civilization 5 wonder of the world is no easy task. These projects (such as the Colossus of Rhodes, Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, etc) require tremendous amounts of shields. Only highly productive cities that have committed years (probably 100 or more) can build a wonder. Fortunately, there is some reward: you are going to get a huge boost in culture, economy, science, happiness or another field.
Once you have built up enough happiness in your empire, you will be rewarded with a Civilization 5 golden age. You can also acquire a golden age by using a historical figure (such as a great artist, merchant, etc.) The benefits are plentiful: increased production, science and more. This is a perfect time to build new city improvements or create a force of unique units.
It's not as cool as controlling an entire enemy civ, but taking over a city in Civilization 5 is fun, too. Be careful, though, those new citizens won't be happy under your leadership right away. You are going to have to build a courthouse or shoe away their anger with a wonder of the world or a social policy.
