The best way to recycle old clothes is to give them to someone that can use them just as they are. Give them to a family member, a friend, or give them to goodwill. If they are torn, ripped, or not in a condition that is wearable, consider some of the following options.
Old socks, underwear, and towels can be cut into flat cleaning rags. There is no reason to purchases cleaning rags in the future. You can recycle your old clothes into rags.
Denim can be used to make album covers, rugs and quilts. Socks can be used to make puppets or winter draft blockers for the window. T-shirts make terrific tote bags. Sweaters make great pillows and can be recycled into mittens.
T-shirts, sweaters, old jeans and socks can all be used for fabric. Simply remove the buttons and zippers and cut them into flat pieces of fabric. The possibilities for the fabric are endless, just use it as you would fabric you purchased at a store.
Some old clothes are perfectly wearable, we are just tired of them or feel they've lost their pizazz. Try dressing these old clothes up by embellishing them with studs, jewels, paint, beads, extra fabric, trim, faux fur, bleach, or dye. There are dozens of ways to wake up old tired clothes.
