It's cold and flu season and that means that many of us (or a family member) will come down with a cold or flu. Here are some common tips to help avoid getting a cold or flu this year!
Washing hands several times a day is the No. 1 way to prevent catching a cold or flu. Germs are on every surface we touch and every person we touch or come in contact with. Make sure you wash your hands before preparing food, after meals, after wiping a snotty nose of a child, changing a diaper or when you come home from shopping.
Store your families toothbrushes in upright container that does not allow any to touch. This allows for the toothbrushes to air dry and not harbor germs in moist conditions. You should also replace toothbrushes after an illness or every 4-6 months.
The dishwasher is a great way to disinfect items you may use daily, such as sponges to wipe the kitchen counters with, your baby's pacifier, baby bottles, teething rings, and even toys should be disinfected to prevent colds.
Vitamins should be taken throughout the year, but especially during the cold and flu season each winter. You may want to add an extra dose of Vitamin C to your daily multi-vitamin.
Make sure you have plenty of boxes of tissues around the house and teach all children to use a tissue whenever they sneeze or cough. Covering the nose and mouth have been methods proven to prevent the spreading of germs, and good manners too!
Hopefully you won't catch a cold or flu this season, and the tips above will help your success rate to succeed in staying well!

Excellent tips on how to stay healthy. I take public transport daily and I wish more people covered their nose/mouth when they sneeze.... H5
Great list. I love that so many of my babies toys are dishwasher safe. I try to remember to throw them in on a random basis to get rid of germs - especially after other kids were over.
