I've had many short adventures following this strategy. To add to this list I will admit that I always had a blanket, an extra pair of shoes, a jug of water and some snacks in my car.
The best way to have a short adventure is to plan as little as possible. That means no schedules and no pre-planning of certain activities. Although it may be a good idea to take your fully charged cell phone just in case.
Timing is everything and in order to have the best adventure possible you should only plan the number of hours or the number of days your little adventure will last. Do not make arrangements ahead of time.
Pack only what is necessary. I suggest a backpack or small bag of about equal size. Take any items that are necessary to your health. Take grooming and hygiene items but only take the bare necessities. Also, pack one or two changes of clothing, that's all.
Put a little thought into how you are going to pay for things. Make a plan for having only what you need and a backup in case something goes wrong and you need to get your hands on more cash.
Drive your car or motorcycle, truck or jalopy yourself. Head in any direction you wish and take the first or second unfamiliar road or highway you come upon. Move randomly taking rights or lefts and as soon as you see something interesting stop, get out of your car and investigate.
If you decide to have your own short adventure please practice caution. Find a place to stop before nightfall. Be careful of strangers and listen to your gut instincts. Also, make sure your car is serviced and your tires are in good shape and you have a spare. Let someone know what you are doing and check in a couple of times daily with your location. Last but not least - take your camera!
Thanks for the short adventure tips. H5
