There are lots of choices when it comes to Sunscreen and lots of little concerns that might help you decide which one to pick. Don't get sunburn, and don't risk skin cancer...use your sunscreen.
Reapplying Sunscreen can be a bother but...there's an APP for that! You can download MuUV Alert from coppertone and it will remind you every two hours to reapply and also gives a local UV index.
If you are at a swimming pool or at the beach, you may have to reapply more often...the experts say that a sprays and foams are best for this; it's just less cumbersome.
If your skin is already damaged from too much sun, you should still use a sunscreen to prevent further damage. If you skin is easily irritated, try choosing a sunscreen with zinc oxide or titanium oxide...these ingredients are especially added to be less irritating for those with sensative skin.
Lots of people are active out in the sun and have a concern over sweating the sunscreen off. Look for the word "sport" or "active" in the kind of sunscreen; you will likely fair better with these.
If you are concerned with the cost of sunscreen, you have a few options. In some parts of the country, you might get lucky and be able to stock up as winter approaches at a discounted price. Your other option is to go with a store brand...not to pitch any one in particular, but Walgreens is still a big name and they have lots of items that carry their name...just compare ingredients.
The FDA rules say that only products with at least an SPF of 15 or higher can claim that they prevent burns and skin cancer; for some of us, that rating might not be high enough. It's easy to skip and estimates are that as many os 40% of adults do not use sunscreen when they should.
Perhaps this will incite people to use sunscreen to protect their skin.
Thanks for the sunscreen tips.
Thanks. Here in South Africa it is turning summer and already it is very hot - your tips will definitely help.
I have yet to use sunscreen and agree with Jseven on the chemicals in the sunscreen products that one has to do research to know about them.
good added info jseven :)
Great helpful information about sunscreen. Thank you jseven for your helpful information as well. H5
I have had severe skin affliction for two years from using topical steroid cream for 40 years or longer and the chemicals have destroyed my skin. I have to warn people that sunscreen is full of chemicals that bake into your bloodstream, so do find an organic, safe one that has no harmful chemicals in it. The sunscreen can cause cancer if used all the time and gets into the bloodstream. Zinc oxide powder can be mixed with palm oil shortening and is very safe.
