With the economy as it is, we are all trying to find ways to cut our expenses. Food is an item we have to have and prices continue to rise, just like everything else. Here are some ways to cut your expenses at the grocery store.
This is the first tip for grocery shopping--never shop when you are hungry or starving. Why? You will be tempted to pick up items on impulse that you don't need. Show after a meal. It will not only help you to stick to your shopping list, but you will be able to get some exercise too after eating.
Always make a list of the items you need and stick to it. When you do not have a list to shop by, you may buy too much or buy items you really don't need. A list keeps you focused on what you really must have for that week or the coming weeks. Sticking to your list keeps you on target and budget.
Always take advantage of sales. By reviewing the sales paper before you head out shopping, you can decide what items you need to stock up on. Buy a few extra of the items on sale to keep on hand.
Coupons can be your best friend. There are coupons on the market for just about all name brands and they are yours for the finding. Look in the magazines you subscribe to, newspaper, etc. Trade coupons with your friends and family. When you add a coupon to an item you are buying on sale, you really can strike a good deal and savings! It all adds up!
When shopping for your fruits and vegetables always buy what is in season. You will find the prices are lower and the produce is fresher. If you have a farmer's market in your area, shop there for the freshest produce.
Make the grocery list for sure! Whenever I don't I am tempted to purchase all sorts of things.
