Almost every brand of chewing gum on the store shelves today has artificial sweeteners in it, which is not healthy. What happened to the good old days of some of my favorite chewing gums like, Wrigley's Juicy Fruit and Doublemint? Now most brands of chewing gum have artificial sweeteners, but there are a few remaining good brands for us gum lovers.
I am glad that Clarks has not jumped on the artificial sweetener bandwagon with their wonderful flavored Teaberry chewing gum. Teaberry gum goes back to the early 1900s, is one of my favorites and can still be found in some supermarket checkout lanes. You cannot find aspartame, acesulfame or phenylanine chemicals on the gum label, that supposedly help the gum to last longer.
Another great brand of chewing gum with it's delicious clove flavor. This gum came out in 1914 by the Thomas Adam's Company and became very popular. This brand was purchased by the Cadbury company in 2003 and is very hard to find these days, but can be found on the internet, if not in local stores.
Peelu chewing gum has become quite popular and can be found in many health food stores. It is made without artificial sweeteners and has xylitol and peelu tree fibers in it. Xylitol and peelu have been hailed as safe, natural and help to prevent tooth decay.
This bubble gum has been around since World War II and was originally made in Brooklyn, New York. It is now made in Mexico and still has the pink, nostalgic flavor with sugar as it's sweetener. A much better choice for kids and adults that like bubble gum. Some supermarkets carry it on their shelves as well as drug or candy stores.
A new 100 per cent organic chewing gum made from the rain-forests of Mexico. This new gum is the world's first 100 percent organic, natural biodegradable chewing gum. This liquid latex tree sap is extracted from the rain-forest trees and made into a sticky paste, which then is made into chewing gum. The process does not harm the trees and provides a healthy alternative chewing gum.
Chewing gum has been around for many years and is enjoyed by many people young and old, alike. The artificial sweeteners are not welcome by hosts of people who have had health issues from them. You can encourage each one of these chewing gum companies by contacting them and conveying your support of their non-artificially sweetened gum.
