For Father's Day, try one of these cupcake ideas.
For Dad's who love to grill, create these barbecue inspired cupcakes.
Bake a batch of chocolate cupcakes according to your favorite recipe (or instructions on box if using a boxed cake mix). Sprinkle red sugar crystals on top of the cupcake (they will look like the embers when the cupcake is complete).Use black gel icing to draw grill lines over the sugar crystals. If you can't find black gel icing, make black icing by stirring black food coloring into white icing, then spoon into a sandwich bag and snip off the corner to pipe the icing onto the cupcakes. Assemble kebobs by skewering candy pieces on a toothpick. Place the kebobs across the "grill" on top of the cupcake.
Turn Dad's weekend chore into a treat with these lawn mower replicas made out of candy.
Line a cupcake pan with green liners and bake a batch Dad's favorite flavor of cupcakes. In another bowl, add a few drops of green food coloring to flaked coconut and stir until the coconut has turned green. Top the cupcakes with Dad's favorite frosting and then cover the frosting with the coconut "grass." In the center of the grass, place one Hershey's Nugget. Use frosting to attach M&M's for the lawnmower wheels. Place one red M&M atop the nugget candy as the engine. Shape a piece of black licorice to serve as the handle and hold in place by pushing the ends into the cupcake.
Decorate your cupcakes to represent Dad's favorite sport.
If he is a baseball fan, bake a batch of his favorite cupcakes and top with white frosting. Arrange small pieces of red licorice to look like the stitching on a baseball.
For a football cupcake, top the cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Use white gel icing to create the stitching.
Use orange frosting and black gel icing to create basketball cupcakes or black and white frosting for soccer cupcakes.
If Dad is a fisherman, these cute cupcakes will make his day.
Frost a batch of Dad's favorite cupcakes with blue frosting. Top with a thin pretzel stick fishing rod and use white gel icing to draw the fishing line. Place a Goldfish cracker or gummy fish at the end of the "fishing line."
Instead of cute cupcakes for Father's Day, how about cupcakes that combine his favorite treats. Try this recipe for beer, cheese and bacon cupcakes.
Combine one cup of beer and 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large sauce pan. Melt the butter and add once cup of shredded, extra sharp cheddar cheese. Remove from heat, and whisk two cups of brown sugar. In another bowl, whisk together one cup of sour cream, two eggs and one tablespoon of vanilla. Add to the beer mixture. Sift together tow cups flour and 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and fold into the batter. Pour into cupcake pan and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Top with bacon cheddar cream cheese frosting.
To make the bacon cheddar cream cheese frosting, beat one 8 ounce package of softened cream cheese with ¼ cup softened butter. Beat until creamy and then stir in 3/4 cup grated cheddar. Gradually stir in four cups of powdered sugar. Stir in one cup of bacon bits.
Excellent job!
