Good ol' water is the best drink to turn to when pursuing weight loss. Water keeps us hydrated, keeps our cells alive, and even helps to regulate our metabolism. The colder the water the better as colder water takes more energy to be heated within the body, therefore burning more calories. Always drink water before, during, and after exercise.
Protein shakes are great to have before workouts and as replacements for meals. Look for protein shakes that are made with natural ingredients, little to no sugar, and that contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals vital to the body. Protein shakes can be great for weight loss because they will keep you fuller longer with fewer calories AND protein helps to build muscle when combined with exercise.
Milk is high in calcium. Calcium helps to strengthen bones and teeth, which is always good. Calcium also boosts weight loss by increasing the amount of fat broken down by the body's cells. Make sure to drink skim milk to cut back on calories and fat as well.
Green tea helps the body to burn more fat as well. Other health benefits associated with consuming green tea? Better looking skin, lower risk for cancer, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, and a stronger immune system. Drink green tea in place of coffee for an early morning boost and have another cup in the early evening or right before or after a workout.
Pomegranate juice and cranberry juice tie for the number 5 slot because both have high levels of antioxidants, both help promote good urinary tract health, and both increase energy. All of these things can help with weight loss.
