The door flies open and in comes new head coach Rex Ryan. This man has to be the most jubilant and exciting personality in football since John Madden. Boom! You knew right away that this coach and general manager combination was going to be selling New York Jets tickets for years to come.
Rex immediately targeted USC prospect Mark Sanchez to be his franchise quarterback. In their second playoff win on the road, the New York Jets defeated the San Diego Chargers. The Bolts missed field goal after field goal, as Gang Green's defense showed up to play. The win sent them on to their eventual loss at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game - but it was fun while it lasted!
After a great opening week, the New York Jets went on to defeat their hated rival the New England Patriots at home in week 2. What a way to open the regular season! This win put opposing teams and the entire National Football League on notice.
