When you read this top five list, you may scratch your head and think the author is totally crazy, but if you read on just a bit, it will begin to make sense. You see, my LM5 of States to live in are those that generate a quieter and more peaceful energy than do some of the more popular metropolis types States of the Union. Consider for a few moments the peaceful serene quite that generates from the different areas of States such as:
Alabama may be considered one of the poorer states, but if you ever jump in the car and go for a ride around here, you will find a lot of wide open spaces that are still pretty much woodlands. If you are sick and tired of the neighbors just three steps away from your bedroom window, you will enjoy being so far away from others out in these woods.
Although, Mississippi is considered another poor state compared to so many others. There are wide open spaces as well as metropolis areas that you might find interesting, even if Hurricane Katrina blazed her path through this quite woodland area.
When it comes to living in a very clean area, Kentucky can be pretty impressive. I honestly think this is the cleanest state there is and really enjoyed the different personalities I found while living in this state for even a short time.
Tennessee is a special place and it has been for a very long time. If you enjoy clean wholesome air and good food, this is one state that has a lot to offer as well as some beautiful scenic areas.
Arkansas is a delightful place with many different types of interesting people. The attitude seems open and airy as long as you mind your manners and treat others well, they will do the same. Of course, this can be said about many of the other states mentioned above or not.
I have spent time living in large cities and metropolis areas and they have their advantages to be sure, but nothing can ease a soul as well as a nice quiet place to call home.
c'mon now...no paradise on the list? Hawai'i!!
I don't see Wisconsin on the list. That is where I live! I guess there isn't too much to do out here anyways :) Great list!
I prefer Colorado and other Western states, but your choices sound great too!
You need to visit us out west. Utah, Montana, and Oregon are among my favorites for quiet and beautiful scenery. I hope to spend one week in all 50 states eventually. I have seen more than 1/2 now.
I've lived in Kentucky and My daughter loved living in Tennessee and it is a great state so I agree with two of your five! California in the '50's and '60's was awesome.
Having lived in a major metropolis, large city, and small towns, I must say I take the stand cities are the way to go, but to each her own. I did laugh at #5 though. As a Missouri girl born and raised, we were taught to make fun of the Arkansas hillbillies. (They weren't as "cultured" as us MO rednecks.) =0)
