This is a list of events in a little girl's life who sent a letter to God and got a response. It touched my heart and I wanted to share it with you in the event you did not receive this email.Spend some time thinking of how you have been touched by this list.
Like many small children death of an animal hurts them and they cry because they miss their pet. Meredith was a little four year old who cried about her 14 year old dog that she missed so much. The pet passed away and Meredith asked if her mother could write a letter to God about the dog named Abbey.Agreeing to help Meredith, the mother listened as Meredith dictated a letter to God so God would recognize Abbey when she got into Heaven. Think about some small child that might benefit by writing a letter to God to soothe their loss. Now read on to the next part of this list.
Meredith realized her pet dog, Abbey, would be in Heaven. She also knew God was in charge of Heaven and she wanted the letter to get to God, but since she was only four she asked mom to write the letter for her so God would know about Abbey when she arrived in Heaven.Anyone can offer to write a letter for a child if they want to let God know about the love for a pet that is in Heaven. If a child does not ask, you can offer to do that and tell them to think about what they want to say to God. You can help them compose a letter too.
Meredith began her letter to God by telling her mother what to write on the paper.Meredith said:
"Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog?
I hope you will play with her.
She likes to swim and play with balls.
I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog, Abbey.
I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
Simple letters to God can help children deal with the death of their pet. Copy this or help a child compose their own letter to God.Therapy is sometimes so simple to do. This is one of those simple tools to use.
Each day, Meredith asked her mother if she thought the letter arrived in Heaven and if God got her letter and read it.Her mother assured Meredith that she thought the letter arrived for God to read. Then the day arrived when Meredith knew her letter to God was received because she got a response. Your letter to God can be addressed to a relative you will tell about this therapy for a child. Since very young children don't read very well, address it to God in Heaven and put your relatives address on the envelope. Down at the bottom you can put attention angel Sharon, or the name of your relative who will help you with this therapy.
One day, not long after Meredith wrote to God about Abbey, a package wrapped in gold paper was at Meredith's front porch. It was addressed to Meredith.Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called "When a pet dies". Taped to the top of the inside of the box was the letter Meredith had her mother write to God. Along the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith along with this note.
"Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in Heaven, Having the picture was a big help and I recognized here right away.
Abbey is not sick anymore.
Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.
Abbey loved being your dog.
Since we don't need our bodies and clothes in Heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and for sending it to me.
What a wonderful mother you have.
I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember I love you very much.
By the way, I am easy to find. I am wherever there is love.
Love,
God
This is such a wonderful idea to help some small child that it might even be a real gift for anyone who has had a pet go to Heaven. What a great thought to bring some soothing peace to a hurting heart!
I went back to read it over again, and it was more inspiring the second time around.
Bless this list to all that read it. H5
