The province of Alberta has many tourist destinations.
Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta. It has a beautiful river valley that is mostly natural and has many walking trails.
Edmonton is best known for West Edmonton Mall, a massive shopping experience, with more than you can imagine.
Edmonton also has a great musuem, Telus science and space center, and the Mutart conservatory (for plants).
The City of Calgary is 3 hours south of Edmonton, you can see the Rocky Mountains from most areas of Calgary, they have a great zoo and are best known for cowboys and horses.
Two horse related attractions are the Calgary Stampede and Spruce Meadows (show jumping).
Slightly north, and east of Calgary are the badlands, a truly great place to visit. There is a lot to see here, mostly dinosaur related. Visit the city of Drumheller and the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology.
Banff is west of Calgary and there is a lot to see in this pretty area, including the town of Banff itself. There are also nature hikes a person can take, including Johnston Canyon which I recommend.
This part is a bit more remote, and less visited than Banff National Park, and is more restful. I went for one night and had deer outside my hotel nearly the whole time. Waterton is in the south west corner of Alberta.
#4 is my favorite so far.thank you for a great list!
Nice list. Thanks for this information. I hope to go to Canada in about 2 years. This might come in handy.
